Assessment Task Instructions
Using your knowledge of the novel, research available on the web and other resources, you are to create in pairs a web site with associated linked pages that provide a ‘close reading’ resource for other students of one chapter from the novel.
To enable your pair to do this in a user friendly manner, sign up to the free weebly site and follow its instructions for creating your own web site. Name the site "tkamchapter#" (replacing # with the chapter number you have chosen or been allocated) and use the free "weebly.com" domain. This will occur the first time you "publish" your site. At that point, let me know and I will attach a link to your home page onto our class page for the novel.
An example of what you could produce is already on this web site as the "Chapter 1" page (see the tab above). Here is the entire first chapter in a readable web page transcription, with key words and phrases hyperlinked to explanatory notes, pictures, maps, definitions and commentaries.
You should use the following parameters as a guide to the content of your ‘site’:
Assessment Criteria:
As a text response, students’ performance in the creation of this study guide will be judged by the extent to which they demonstrate:
knowledge
· To what extent does the study guide demonstrate knowledge of the text?
understanding and analysis
· To what extent does the study guide show understanding of the ideas in the text?
· How effectively does the study guide recognise and/or explain how techniques are used by Harper Lee to express ideas?
· How well does the study guide recognise the values, beliefs, or concerns explored in To Kill a Mockingbird?
communication
· How accurate and fluent is the written expression?
· How appropriate are the form and register for the audience and purpose?
